Is the job of a computer programmer a rewarding one?

The job of a programmer can be very rewarding. It is often quite well paid and the position can vary from job to job. You can be a self-employed web developer or you can work for a company as an employee. You may work for a web design agency or you may work for a business which has its own marketing and IT department.

It is important that you keep up to date with industry advances as a programmer. You may need to go on annual courses to find out about new ways to code or new security concerns that you need to be aware of. When building a website for a business, you may be helping them to grow significantly. This can be a lot of responsibility. You may worry about taking on too much but often you need to push yourself a bit in order to improve. Once you have learnt a new skill you can then use this on other projects too. You may have to take a bit of a hit on the price you can charge when doing something for the first time, but once you know how to do it you can often resell it to others and start to make money back.
