Building a login area on your website

If you currently have a website but want to allow your customers to access private or personal information then you may need to build a login area. Login areas can be used for a number of different things, but ecommerce websites often have login areas to allow customers to view, place or track and order. You may even offer your customer the ability to change or cancel an order or request to send a return.

Login areas need to be highly secure. If you are going to be storing card or bank details then you will need extra security and will need to be PCI DSS compliant which will involve your site and company going through a number of checks to confirm that you are collecting and storing data correctly.

If it is important that you use an experienced programmer to build a login area for you and test it thoroughly before it goes live on your website. As technology and programming advances you will need to update areas of the login code to ensure that it is still secure.

With GDPR coming in to play, data protection is of the upmost importance and you will need to check that you are doing everything you should to prevent a data breech and have processes in places as to what should happen if you experience one.
